A gift from the heart is something given freely, without expecting anything in return — with faith that life provides what we need, and that gifts find their way back to us, often in diffuse and indirect ways.
Whatever we have doesn't come from us alone. In our deeply interconnected world, money, time, capacity, and resources reach us through countless invisible threads — threads that ultimately all depend on the abundance of gifts our planet shares with us every day. In that sense, everything we hold has already come to us as a gift.
Recognizing this may fill us with gratitude, and we cannot help but pass gifts forward — not out of obligation, social pressure, guilt, a sense of debt, habit, pity, or a desire for status. We just give freely from the heart.
How much to give? There is no right or wrong — even nothing is okay. Your heart will know what you're ready to pass forward.
Please remember that passing gifts forward is an invitation, not a requirement, not an obligation. If you feel the call to give, give what feels right from your heart. It may well be a mix of different things. And if nothing feels right, that's completely fine too.
If you feel called to give financially, we'd invite you to support an organization that brings inner practice to people. That's the work [base] is part of — and while we can't receive donations directly right now, these are three organizations we've experienced first-hand and trust. Or give to any that resonates with you.
There are different ways to think about the amount: your financial means, what similar offerings cost where you live, your desire to support this kind of work continuing. Ultimately, only you know what's right — and if that means zero, that's totally fine.
As part of the [base] community, there are different ways to contribute. You might host a local Practice Circle in your area, or share your practice with others in our New Moon Gatherings. Get in touch to learn more.
