Tricia Hersey reminds us that “wherever our bodies are, we can find rest,” and that rest allows us “to connect to our deepest selves.”

Hi dear,
I hope the change in season was smooth for you. Steffen and I are coming out of a two-week creative break from [base], which, in hindsight, feels like a deep rest before a new season begins.
We’re excited about a few new things that we want to bring to you soon. In the meantime, come join us for the second Moon Practice. During the first one, I loved reflecting and literally burning things from the past together. π₯

The moon ahead
|
| |
|
We’re calling this one Azure Moon. Here are three different lenses to look at it:
Hindu. This cycle tells a whole story: it opens on the day of the ancestors, moves through Durga’s nine nights and the victory of good over evil, and reaches the full moon when Lakshmi, goddess of abundance, is said to walk the earth asking “who is awake?”, blessing those she finds awake. The closing new moon is Diwali itself, when lamps are lit to welcome her home. Will you be awake when the blessing passes by?
Buddhist. This full moon is Pavarana, the day that ends the monks’ three-month rains retreat. Before parting, each monastic invites the others to point out anything in their conduct they couldn’t see themselves, while across Thailand and Laos people set small boats of light onto the rivers, letting the past season float away. Is there someone you trust enough to ask what they see in you?
Folk. In the North this is the Hunter’s Moon, the old signal to gather in before winter, also called the Falling Leaves Moon or Freezing Moon. In the South the same moon rises into spring under names like Seed Moon, Egg Moon, and Waking Moon. One moon, two seasons: what in you is ready to let go, and what is ready to wake?

Practice Story: Flow Shield
|
| |
|
Practiced daily by Steffen in Berlin π©πͺ |
|
“Before I start working, I put my whole morning on one page. Once my goal and every distracting thought have a place to land on paper, my mind stops pulling me away and I can stay in flow for hours.”
|
| |
|
Mode writing Β· Direction focusing, clearing Β· Realm functional, works through what you do, not what you believe Β· Path none
What it is. One sheet of paper that protects your focus. It holds two things: what you want to work on and why it matters, and everything else that’s on your mind, so it doesn’t interrupt you.
How to try it. Before you start your work, take a blank page. At the top, write what you’ll work on and why it matters to you. Break it into a few small steps, with the first one so easy you can start right away. Keep a space for anything that pops into your head while you work: ideas, reminders, worries, people to message. The moment they pop up, immediately note them down on your Flow Shield page to let them go. Deal with that list later. Often half of it won’t matter anymore. At the end of your flow block, close it by reflecting on what went well and what you can learn for next time, and celebrate it.
Before you start. All you need is a sheet of paper and a pen. Have them ready before you begin.

This moon we’re…
|

|
resting with Tricia Hersey as a form of resistance
listening to Nick Murphy’s Music for Silence
relearning the language of land, plants, and place with Martin Prechtel
moved by Ram Dass on the path of love

I’m still curious: How did you like the Moon Letter? What else would you like to see in future ones? Just reply to this letter. It comes straight to me.
